Predicts risk of needing colectomy with severe ulcerative colitis.
Use this tool to predict failure of medical therapy on day 3 of admission for acute severe ulcerative colitis. Requires a lab value and clinical finding to calculate risk.
Management
For patients at high risk, consider other therapies such as surgery. Ensure your patient has appropriate follow-up and maintenance therapy on discharge.
