Quick COVID-19 Severity Index (qCSI)
Predicts 24-hr risk of critical respiratory illness in patients admitted from ED with COVID-19.
Launched during the COVID-19 crisis.
Advice
- The authors suggest:
- A score ≤3 indicates a low likelihood of critical respiratory illness and mortality within 24 hours.
- A score >3 suggests a higher likelihood for progression to respiratory failure.
- Several subsequent studies have used different cutoffs to predict COVID-19 mortality.
- No treatment recommendations based on qCSI scoring are currently available, but patients with higher scores may benefit from higher levels of care.
