Advice
  • Use results to assess a patient’s ability to perform ADLs; a full functional assessment should also include IADLs and, when relevant, AADLs.
  • Results can inform discharge planning and care needs based on identified deficits, such as:
    • Physical and/or occupational therapy programs.
    • Fall-prevention measures.
    • Home safety evaluations.
    • Long-term care planning.
    • Caregiver support services.
  • Trend results over time to follow progress with rehabilitative and supportive interventions.
