Modified Denver Criteria for Blunt Cerebrovascular Injury (BCVI)

• This tool supports identification of patients who may benefit from CTA neck screening for BCVI after blunt trauma.
• Interpret results in the context of the overall clinical picture, including mechanism of injury, associated injuries, and the evolving neurologic exam.

• If any single criterion is met, consider further evaluation for possible BCVI with CTA of the neck.
• If no criteria are present, screening sensitivity is not absolute; ongoing concern based on mechanism, evolving symptoms, or clinical judgment may still justify imaging.

Aggressive BCVI screening and early anticoagulant therapy are associated with a significant reduction in ischemic neurologic events.
