Predicts mast cell clonality on bone marrow biopsy in patients with systemic mast cell activation symptoms.
Advice
- A score of ≥2 indicates a high probability for clonal mast cells in the bone marrow or systemic mastocytosis, warranting a bone marrow biopsy.
- For a score <2, consider additional diagnostics depending on clinical judgment, such as a KIT mutation analysis and/or genotyping for hereditary alpha tryptasemia.
- This score should not be the sole criterion for determining the need for a bone marrow biopsy and should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical judgment.
