Use this tool to screen for depression in the postpartum period. The original literature uses a cutoff score of 10 for a positive screen, as does our calculator. However, some studies and institutions use other cutoffs for a positive screen.

Management
  • Scores 10 are considered a positive screen. Refer your patient for further psychiatric evaluation and treatment plan.
  • Keep in mind that some studies and institutions may use a different cutoff value to indicate a positive screen; be sure to know your local best practices.
