Advice
  • This tool should not be used as the sole determinant for intubation; consider it alongside clinical judgment and other indicators.
  • For patients with a high score (>5), early intubation may reduce in-hospital mortality.
  • If NIV appears successful (score ≤5), maintain close monitoring and consider other supportive measures to optimize respiratory function.
  • Reassess the patient frequently, as changes in the score over time may indicate a need for escalation.
